Rüdi and Other Activities

In keeping with my desire to have a “big ol’ farm dog”, one of the titles I really wanted to get on Rüdi, and preferably have it be his first, is AKC's Farm Dog Certified title. To my delight, he passed the two tests back-to-back at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America herding trials in Chino on April 28, 2023. He was definitely a little too interested in the penned-up sheep, but he came when called and passed with flying colors.

Later in 2023, he also earned Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog titles. Neither were high on my priority list, but both were obtained in relation to our 2023 National Specialty show, so they are described over there.

Two more Swissy activities I have started to do with him when we can find the opportunities are pack hiking and weight pull. Our first attempts at each are described on the 2025 National Specialty page, so head on over there for the descriptions. I like both, even though I'm still a little suspicious of the weight pulls, so we'll eventually title in both as time allows.
